I first became a personal trainer back in 1996, I had always been interested in nutrition due to my sporting exploits and weight training and achieved my first nutrition qualification in 1998. In 2000, I saw a presentation by Paul Chek, the founder of the CHEK Institute at Loughborough University in the UK. He spoke about nutrition and skin conditions especially acne. He spoke about acne and it?s link to food intolerances and toxic overload. Armed with this new knowledge, I received a food sensitivity test and was also told I had a Candida Albicans infection, which is a form of fungus. I went on an anti-fungal diet and avoided the foods I was intolerant to. I also stopped using the anti-biotics that I had been using for 18 years to overcome acne (which hadn?t worked). Within a few weeks my skin improved greatly and my severe acne has never returned. I further studied acne, health, diet and lifestyle and began learning more and more. So I studied with Paul Chek at his Institute in California and also studied metabolic typing? with William Wolcott, the author of ?The Metabolic Typing Diet?, and the world?s leading authority on metabolic typing?. In 2008, I studied Functional Diagnostic Nutrition? where I learned to use functional laboratory testing to assess what was going on inside the body and how to rebalance any imbalances and restore optimal health and therefore, skin in the process. Interestingly, my Doctor had told me on a number of occasions that diet had no affect on acne. I learned that my Doctor couldn?t be more wrong. As someone who suffered from severe acne, I am really passionate to help others and help prevent the painful experiences I went through. Over the years, I have had people approach me to help them with their acne. All those that followed the recommendations that I have included in this e-book managed to achieve great skin.
